About Google Science Fair 2014

The Google Science Fair 2014 is an online science competition for science enthusiast students across the globe. A science project which deals with an environmental, health or resources challenge and makes positive difference in practical world is awarded with "Scientific American Science in Action Award".

Eligibility for Google Science Fair 2014 Participants

• Students from across the world aged between 13 to 18 years are eligible to participate.
• Students can register on their own, or as teams of up to three.
• The competition is not open to residents of Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Myanmar/Burma, Syria, Zimbabwe, or any other U.S. sanctioned country and is void where prohibited by law.
• The Age limit is 14-18 in Israel, Spain and South Korea, and 16-18 in the Netherlands.
• Applicant must have a Google account.

Google Science Fair Awards and Prizes :  

• The Scientific American Science in Action Award : honors a project that makes a practical difference by addressing an environmental, health or resources challenge.  
• Google Science Fair Computer Science Award
• Google Science Fair Local Award : $1,000 Prize Money is awarded to help further their project and education of participant whose project addressing the local issue.
• Google Science Fair Voter's Choice Award : $10,000 Prize Money is given to one of the 15 finalist's project selected by voting from online community.
• The Celebrate the School prize : A cash grant worth $10,000 toward classroom computing of science lab equipment and LEGO Mindstorms sets.

How to register for Google Science Fair 2014

Candidates willing to participate in need to register on Google Science Fair official website (www.googlesciencefair.com). There is no application fee applicable to this competition.

Important Dates for Google Science Fair 2014 

• Last date to submit science project for GSF 2014 is 12.05.2014
• Regional Finalists will be announced on 26.06.2014.
• Local award winners will be announced on 26.06.2014.
• Science in Action Award winner will be announced on 6.08.2014.
• Global 15 Finalists will be announced on 6.08.2014.
• Voter's Choice Award voting begins on 01.09.2014
